Well, it's been a couple of months since the Live 8 concerts. They were released officially on DVD today with very little fanfare. I am not quite sure EMI and Bob Geldof expect that this set will be the largest music release on DVD if they don't promote it. I haven't heard anything on the radio or on television. If you've heard any commercials about the release - write in - let me know. I got the Canadian DVD set last week as well as the London Live 8 and Philadelphia Live 8 DVD set. The official set with the 4 DVDs is by far the best value. You can buy it by scrolling down this page.

Live 8 Nelson Mandella Speech
I took the time to listen to Nelson Mandela's speech that was given on July 2, 2005 at the Live 8 concerts in Johannesberg, South Africa. The entire speech is now posted at http://thelive8concert.com/
The speech was highly emotional and a welcome contribution to the Live 8 day.

Live 8 Eden Project - The Roots of Africa
I was lucky enough to attend the Cornwall event at the Eden Project. For those who are unfamiliar with the venue, it is an area in Cornwall, England that had huge biodomes. Guests can come to learn about all kinds of plant life and discover the green planet. This leg of the Live 8 concert was a bit different in that it included primarily performers from Africa. It was a heartfelt relaxed day mixed with music and dance. I imagine that the other Live 8 events were more commercial. Details about the Live 8 Eden project can be found at thelive8concert.com, in addition to facts about the various performances. The day was absolutely memorable and I woudl strongly suggest picking up this DVD to learn more about the music and cultures of Africa.
